Oui!Sconsin T-Shirt
$20.00 USD
Description:
Printed on a soft, 100% cotton t-shirt.The name “Ouisconsin” was first written in 1673 when the first mapmakers, Jacques Marquette and Louis Joliet, came to the area and printed the Miami Indian word with French spelling. The spelling of the state remained “Ouisconsin” for more than 100 years. It was changed to “Wisconsin” in 1820.
There are French names all throughout Wisconsin, too! City names like Beloit, Eau Claire, La Crosse, and Racine are all French words.
